Scandal ensnares Detroit... Mayor Flees in Panic! [Breaking]

After months of controversy and scandal which has ensnared the countries poorest city may finally be over. A deal is due any time this morning that would lead to the incarceration, resignation and removal from office of Detroit's mayor.

The drama heightened this past week as the Governor began plans to unseat him, prosecutors demanded increasing amounts of prison time in exchange for his plea. Mayor Kilpatrick was noticeably absent during the proceedings, spending the day in his city office --- a place he had not been seen for weeks. Still there were signs that his administration was coming to an end as janitors began hauling away large containers from his suite. One of his latest actions was to award 4 to 5% pay raises to his inner circle.

In August the mayor was sent to jail after leaving the country without permission while out on bail. He was later released, but required to wear an electronic ankle bracelet in the interim.

Detroit City Council President Ken Cockrel Jr will likely fill any vacancy created by the departure of the mayor.

Stick a fork in Kwame...

5.00 (informative)

He's done. Plead guilty to obstruction of justice and assault. He's getting 120 days, probation and will have to pay restitution for the millions he cost the city.

On the other hand, prison has to be better than Detroit.

Does This Mean The End Of Crummy Kilpatrick?

One hopes the door he is exiting does hit him in his backside on the way out and the door to his prison cell hits him on his way in. If only they could figure out a way of making it a package deal with accomodations for that shrew of a mother that Kilpatrick has, it would be a good thing and the quality of governance in the US would shoot up dramatically. I noticed the tag for chlamydia on this story. This leads me to ask: 1. Is that the name of Kilpatrick's mistress? 2. Is that the nickname the folks at city hall call his mom? 3. Is this something he picked up off of a toilet seat? 4. Is this the one thing that's been on the rise since he took office?

Illegitimi non carborundum.

3rd link in the first sentence. Detroit was recently recognized as the top city in the nation in terms of a chlamydia problem.

Good times. Good times.
