It has recently come to light that a Swedish couple has, for the last two years, been raising their first child (referred to by the pseudonym "Pop" in the press coverage) without revealing its gender. While the child's parents obviously know, as well as a select few caregivers, the parents refuse to reveal the child's gender identity to friends, and have taken to dressing the child in clothes appropriate to both boys and girls, refer to it in gender neutral ways, and generally have attempted to let the child pick its own identity.
